|Welcome to www.SingingSoftwareReviews.com! On this site you'll find reviews of some of the most popular singing courses and learn to sing software available online. All of the courses are reviewed by a professional singer and vocal coach - me! For more information about who I am as well as some videos of me singing, check out the about page.|
The most common problem with learning how to sing is the steep expense of paying a private vocal coach. So a lot of people look for vocal coach software or home study courses to supplement their musical education. I firmly believe there are MANY benefits to continuing your education using some of the resources available online.
In the first place, every singing teacher has a different teaching style. And every teacher conveys information to you in a unique way. Since you can't really SEE inside your body, singing is very much about learning to feel subtle things. So for that reason, a lot of vocal instruction relies on metaphors and analogies and other abstract approaches. I feel that the more of these "tools" you have at your disposal, the richer and more diverse you become as a vocalist.
While this site is a labor of love, I do earn occasional commissions from the sale of some of the courses I recommend. However, it goes without saying that I only recommend the courses I truly feel have something to offer the budding vocalist. And believe it or not, one of the singing software reviews I wrote was for a course that turned out to be truly terrible and full of crappy info. The owner of the course contacted me and threatened legal action against me! So I hope you're convinced that I'm committed to honestly reviewing these products!
There are generally 2 types of products you'll find reviewed on this website:
1. Courses on how to sing better
The courses on how to sing better are essentially online singing lessons delivered in video and/or audio format (mostly video). Most of these lessons are accessible digitally instantly after you purchase them. And some, like Per Bristow's Sing With Freedom for instance, allow you to order a physical DVD copy.
The products in the second category are software tools that help you fine tune your singing. For instance, PitchPerfector Pro allows you to see your voice on a graph as you sing, and view how in tune (or out of tune) your singing is. While it seems nerdy, I promise you that this kind of technology can shave a CONSIDERABLE amount of time off your learning curve. I've paid HUNDREDS of dollars to do vocal lessons at voice labs while hooked up to these kinds of software and the instant feedback is absolutely priceless because you can also adjust in REAL time and see how it impacts your vibrato, pictch, etc.
The best singing software can't replace a good vocal coach. I hope you don't have the illusion that you'll become a great vocalist simply by downloading courses and software. Singing is much too deep of an art to do that. So with that being said, I present to you my thorough reviews of various singing lessons software and apps.
Enjoy! Vic Dorfman
